Casino Stud Poker by Amaya Slot Review

Casino Stud Poker by Amaya (now The Stars Group, the gambling division of Flutter Entertainment) is not a typical slot machine, but, as the name suggests, a digital version of the popular card game Caribbean Stud Poker. This table offers players the chance to test their skills against the dealer, using strategy and a bit of luck. If you appreciate classic casino card games and are looking for an alte ative to slots, Casino Stud Poker could be an excellent choice.

Game Mechanics and RTP

Casino Stud Poker is a game against the dealer, where your goal is to get a better five-card hand than the dealer, provided the dealer "qualifies."

• Card Dealing: The game begins with the player placing an Ante bet. Then, both the player and the dealer are dealt five cards. One of the dealer's cards is face up, while the other four are face down.
• Player's Decision: After reviewing their cards and one of the dealer's face-up cards, the player must make a decision:
  • Fold: If the player believes their hand is not strong enough, they can fold, losing their Ante bet.
  • Raise: If the player is confident in their hand, they place an additional bet, equal to two Ante bets (Call).
• Dealer Reveals Cards: After the player's decision, the dealer reveals their cards.
• Dealer Qualification: For the dealer to participate in the game, their hand must "qualify." The dealer qualifies if they have an Ace-King (A-K) or any stronger combination.
  • If the dealer does not qualify, the player wins the Ante bet 1:1, and the Call bet is retu ed.
  • If the dealer qualifies, a hand comparison takes place.
• Hand Comparison:
  • If the player's hand is stronger than the dealer's hand, the player wins Ante 1:1, and the Call bet is paid according to the payout table (usually from 1:1 for a pair to 100:1 or more for a royal flush).
  • If the dealer's hand is stronger than the player's hand, the player loses both bets (Ante and Call).
  • If the hands are equal (Push), both bets are retu ed to the player.
• RTP (Retu to Player): The theoretical RTP in Casino Stud Poker by Amaya is typically around 98.3% - 98.4% with optimal strategy. This is a fairly high indicator for casino games, which makes it attractive to players.
• Volatility: The volatility in Casino Stud Poker can be considered medium. While payouts for strong combinations can be significant, the frequency of wins depends on the dealer's qualification and the strength of your hand. Short streaks of losses or wins are quite possible.

Bonus Features

Unlike traditional slot machines, Casino Stud Poker does not have "bonus features" in the usual sense (free spins, mini-games, etc.). However, the game offers:

• Progressive Jackpot Side Bet: This is the most significant "bonus" feature. Players have the option to place an additional bet (usually 1 credit) on a progressive jackpot. If the player makes this bet and gets a very strong combination (e.g., royal flush, straight flush, four of a kind, full house), they can win a portion or the entire progressive jackpot. The payout table for the jackpot usually looks like this:
  • Royal Flush: 100% of the progressive jackpot.
  • Straight Flush: 10% of the progressive jackpot.
  • Four of a Kind: fixed payout (e.g., 100x the jackpot bet).
  • Full House: fixed payout (e.g., 50x the jackpot bet).
  • Flush: fixed payout (e.g., 25x the jackpot bet).

Important: The jackpot bet is separate and does not affect the outcome of the main game against the dealer. You can win the jackpot even if you lose the main hand.

Final Verdict

Casino Stud Poker by Amaya is an excellent choice for those who appreciate classic casino table games and are looking for a game where strategy matters. The high RTP (with optimal strategy) makes it attractive to players aiming to minimize the house edge. The possibility of winning a progressive jackpot adds extra excitement and potential for large payouts, although the probability of such combinations occurring is extremely low.

The game's graphics and interface are usually simple and functional, focused on ease of gameplay. This is not a slot that will impress you with visual effects or complex animations, but it perfectly fulfills its task - to offer a quality Caribbean Stud Poker experience.

Recommended for:

• Card game and poker enthusiasts.
• Players who prefer games with high RTP.
• Those looking for a game where strategy influences the outcome.
• Players who enjoy the possibility of winning a progressive jackpot.
